Category: Ceylon (Sri Lanka) Black Tea

Tasting Notes: brisk + bright

Description: A decaffeinated Ceylon black tea from Sri Lanka. A light to medium-bodied black tea with classic brisk flavorful Ceylon notes. This Decaf Ceylon is lighter bodied, more brisk, and more smooth than our Decaf Assam. This is a great selection for those that enjoy a light and smooth decaf black tea. Excellent hot and iced.

Our decaf teas are created using the CO2 decaffeination process. The advantage of this technique is that no chemical solvents are used to remove the caffeine. In this manner of decaffeination, naturally occurring CO2 is applied to the tea leaf in a circulation process which carefully uses high pressure and temperature to extract the caffeine. A very slight residue of caffeine will remain in the tea leaf, which is why we call them decaf teas rather than no caffeine teas. There will be a slight change in the character and flavor of the tea due to the decaffeination process, but the end result is an uncompromising cup of tea with no chemical overtones.

Please note: If you'd like a 100% naturally caffeine-free tea, we suggest that you try our large selection of no caffeine teas such as: herbal teas, rooibos teas, honeybush teas, and fruit tisanes.

Caffeine-free but I honestly couldn't tell the difference—that bright, brisk Ceylon bite is still all there. Steeps up a lovely light amber and holds its character even after three minutes. Perfect for my evening cuppa without the jitters.

Still has that proper Ceylon briskness even after the decaf process, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The bright, light cup is perfect for an evening brew when I want the flavor without the buzz.

The body’s light-to-medium, so it’s perfect for late afternoon without any jitters, and that brisk, bright flavor really holds its own against the fully caffeinated stuff. I’ve brewed it hot and over ice and it stays clean and refreshing both ways, which is rare for a decaf.
